Opacity Mask Artwork Link

so, i'm having trouble cs6 ai , artwork link opacity masks...for instance, have placed black-white image using "grunge effect" mask on group within artwork. problem having when 1 of 2 things (move artwork or copy/paste artwork file) mask not remain. have little link selected on opacity mask says "link artwork".  tried "expanding" artwork no avail. missing setting or allow me "finalize" piece of artwork has opacity mask applied can use elsewhere?

 

i'm llustrator/forum amateur, please forgiving terminologies etc, welcome provide. thinking ai has setting or wrong. have watched tutorial on youtube guy moves artwork around once opacity mask linked, mine not did. it's weird , frustrating. normal?

edit: opened ai on office computer , tried opacity mask , worked far moving artwork around within same artboard. but, if copy , paste artwork new ai file, mask not remain. normal?

have made sure have artwork selected when try move / copy-paste artwork?

if have artwork selected in transparency panel, should able move or copy/paste image , retain transparency.

 

you may want try flattening opactiy mask if don't need retain mask. so, make sure artwork select shown above. then, go object > flatten transparency.

from there, slide raster/vector balance 100 , press okay.

your image split different sections, can merge/group or edit. can see below opactiy mask has dissapeared tranparency panel.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
