i have client small local printing company specializes in offset , digital printing. true small business clients, cost issue seeks develop effective , affordable website upgrade. know joomla can handle them -- including giving them more flexibility in content , growing , adapting them.
the important component them in new site having reliable file transfer tool allow customers create password protected accounts , upload artwork them reliably printing projects. company using third party service called yousendit.com , not happy it. of clients not trust tool , going around other services or sending through email attachment. files consequently scattered in variety of locations can cause them become lost or overlooked or, larger files, not reach them. on few occasions, yousendit server has gone down , shop production stopped because unable access artwork stored on server.
my client has expressed interest in having file transfer capability integrated within joomla site, utilizing user login capability. see benefit, i, in knowing files "physically" , in not paying monthly fees host them elsewhere. know there cons hosting files, esp. because have no real department , writer, designer , information architect.
i interested in hearing opinion on subject: thoughts either or against integrated component on one's own server vs. of subscription reputable third party file transfer service.
