Thread: Coding on Linux

first of all, sorry if thread in wrong section; didnt see programming section (maybe there should one...).

question is, best coding language options linux, ubuntu. clarify, linux not target; want use programming, although being able run programs on linux great. know c# pretty have long since become annoyed microsoft , moved away (i love linux now). so, figured should learn language since c# microsoft. want learn python because portable, flexible, , object-oriented, , use blender (<--great software) entirely written python, python of great use there. have heard java sloppy havent looked much, , other options arent used.

so, suggestions appreciated! in advance.

you can use c sharp. install mono, supports .net 2.0 , project in charge of going nowhere

unix designed programmers programmers, means linux tends programming playground support many languages. java not sloppy, 1 of best cross-platform languages there is. many scientific , mathematical programs written java.
