12 years of data on joomla 1.5 site - need to export to buil - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

shortly need export 12 years of venue / events information joomla 1.5 site , import new joomla 3.0 site. it's basically, photo pages, venue speakers, , importantly agenda 2 yearly events, need stuff it's history , possible promotional material future events. best way go this?
of course making backups, of site , db start, site has 3rd party components written event program, cannot copies of component , therefore think data wont work in new site?

any idea's appreciated,

hi,

1) recommend doing complete file , mysql backup of site.
2)copy site out have 2 versions (one in tact, , 1 make changes on) you're not working on live version of site , it's still accessible.
3)make little no updates in terms of content, extensions, , etc. they're both in sync when switch over
4)upgrade joomla 1.5 2.5 first (don't go straight 3.0) check out jupgrade , tutorials
5)evaluate upgrade 3.0, it's not meant technical people , it's advised wait 3.5, otherwise can upgrade 2.5 3.0 lot easier through joomla itself
6)if can code, read on converting components run under 2.5/3.0...may lot of work depending on state of components or hire developers task

it's important components, modules, plugins etc. have 2.5 and/or 3.0 compatible versions or hire developers make them way template.

at least there's lot of documentation, tutorials, , extensions jupgrade 1.5-2.5 upgrade, have things manually (like mysql changes maybe).

i'm not 100% knowledgeable , opinion, said should give start or point in right direction.
