to you, in future, find correct forum topic please read which forum post question have put together.
rubbish @ worst, misleading @ best!
provided have working apache, mysql, php server such xampp, wampserver2 on windows, mamp on mac osx, or xampp or lamp server (that configured) installed on linux can run joomla on local pc etc.
yes suggestion use akeeba best part of post follow. can later used backup sites both live , on localhost not lose work when making major changes.
alternatively, can download copy of web site via ftp , create dump of database phpmyadmin.
i still recommend former option though.
download , install akeeba backup extension , follow extensive documentation on use.
this becoming 1 of essential joomla extensions sites: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ackup/1606
read extensive documentation on-line @ akeeba backup or download copy of same.;
check following compatibility tables appropriate version of akeeba use installation. details, see: https://www.akeebabackup.com/compatibility.html
it not hurt test installation of joomla feel whilst wait main site copied down.
