Memory and Multiprocessing results in After Effects are Inconsistent (Mac Pro)
i'm trying "optimize system" doing memory , multithreading benchmarks results unpredictable when don't use "multiple frames simultaneously." results fast sometimes, slow others. when use "render multiple frames simultaneously" times consistant slower. strange. premiere screams crashes lot.
anyone know mac tweaks more juice out of these processors?
here's configuration.
mac pro os mountain lion (culprit?)
after effects cs6 (all updates)
2x3.46 ghz 6-core intel xeon
64gb of ram
nvidea geforce gtx 570 open cl / cuda enabled
crazy raid 1400 r & w 1400mb/s
there no magic "one size fits all" setting. results depend on things footage i/o, actual processing requirements (heavy effects vs. no effects vs. number of layers vs. blending operations etc.), hardware acceleration getting involved or not down seemingly trivial things codecs used in source footag. results "consistent" mp because pretty hardware acceleration stuff reverts software-only modes , eventualyl you'll hit machinbe's performance ceiling no matter goes on in project - can't faster point. in short: stop wasting time trying come magic formulas, tackle on per-project basis when needed , accumulate experience.
