Redundant category in article URL when not using menu alias - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
hello guys!
although first post here, not new joomla @ all. i've been using year now, starting version 1.7 , updating 2.5. great product, indeed.
however, there has been driving me nuts past few days. start with, website planned in multiple language limited english , bulgarian. i've dealt , works pretty good. major content accessible menu, hence there menu aliases created , urls seo-friendly. however, let's have catalog of projects. can't put menu alias each product, that's hardly possible. instead, address articles article. in case, "products" page redirects profiles of products.
this basic "products" page url:
http://kms-e.com/en/kms-products/automation.
i creating hyperlink via "article" button , want redirect article "2-band grinding machine metal parts".
the result url should has been:
http://kms-e.com/en/kms-products/automation/48-2-band-grinding-machine-for-metal-parts --> url works great if type in manually in browser, valid.
however, real result is:
http://kms-e.com/en/kms-products/automation/10-english/48-2-band-grinding-machine-for-metal-parts.
why category id , name being applied not necessary? url still valid without it.
the curious part of post
i not quite sorry how deal , carried on adding articles. great surprise after i've decided access bulgarian content. great surprise, same links products in catalog not include category.
so, how possible links on article, pointing other articles contain category-id , @ same time, links on other article have category part???
if matters, article works having "bulgarian" category, while not working 1 having category "english"? additionally, each article's language defined appropriately. bulgarian uses unicode alias while english 1 has latin alias.

just compare url of first item(it's same picture on both pages). bulgarian 1 has no category, why in english "10-english" added url. if valid bulgarian, there should have been "9-bulgarian" in url.
this how define joomla links on both articles:
english(having redundant category): index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&catid=10&lang=en
bulgarian(applying no category): index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=50&catid=9&lang=bg
