Installation joomla 2.5 error - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
i removed files , sql of old site based on joomla 1.5 , replaced new local site based on joomla 2.5.8. runs on local site after uploading files via filezilla , uploading relevant sql, , editing configuration.php file accordingly, getting error when try administrators backend.
the error is:parse error:syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting'(' in line 35 of ..administrator/includes/framework.php
line 35 jerror::$legacy=true;
please me solve problem.

if doing fresh install there isn't need manually install database etc instead use joomla installation wizard.
simply download latest version of 2.5 joomla website, extract , upload via ftp root of site, go www.mysite.com should greeted wizard should guide through installation process, injects data database , sets configuration file.
unless trying use existing content joomla , trying upgrade joomla framework if case little more complicated (or less so) trying attempt install manually.
if later please let me know can advise how carry out upgrade, hope if case have made copy of old site before deleting files.
