Thread: Don't require password for administrative tasks

the standard update record behavior requires form on page, plus recordset identify value updated. in scenario, value record updated in url id. don't know how write myself , dreamweaver won't this.

the page want on record detail page, there record id present in querystring. record new until user views it, , need writes simple value 1 field in table record being viewed. in nutshell:

using value id in url querystring, update "viewed" field in specific table value of "y".

this first operation page loads , page load , show data does.

i'd happy raw code generous enough provide that, or perhaps instructional on reverse engineering standard update record code generated dreamweaver. or, if know of extensions designed - i'd interested in too!

my app i'm working on in asp/vbscript.

you cant login root because root disbaled default , ubuntu security model advises againt enabling havent.

use sudo or gksudo give yoru account temporary root permissions.

reason asks password everytime prevent services , possible malware , being able utilise root permission, if password , hence root permission stored everytime system prone catastrophe
