Thread: Sound issues with alc888 drivers


hello,

i've installed xubuntu on msi gt740 laptop. has worked far exception of sound issue.

system has detected 2 sound devices 1 hmdi , intel hda sound cards realtek alc888. machine set 4 speakers , 1 subwoofer. sound comes sub.

i've done far is....

1. find model of sound card

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec* | grep codec
provided: codec: realtek alc888 codec: lsi id 1040

2.then checked alsa documentation alc888

3. added line:
options snd-hda-intel model="model"into alsa-base.conf. "model" being changed 1 in list.

4. reset alsa.

i've repeated process each model reference no joy. doing wrong?
if install realtex unix drivers, lose sound , system not recognise device @ all.

in advance can help.
