Converting PHP site to Joomla 2.5--Need Help - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i converting php site joomla 2.5. well, have programmers doing me. did not understand ramifications of converting cms. told programmers url's automatically renamed joomla. site 14 years old , have thousands of sites linking various pages of site. not understand told me url names change, can explain me , there way url's can stay same name, or can have control on naming them. seems names me extremely long, 1 on page i'm on over site. particularly of url names have keywords in them reason.

also, how make sure sites linking in going still link same pages if url name changes. many of pages on site have google page rank , don't want affected.

could please educate me here on how proceed. after work has been done, don't want have scratch project.

if you're keeping hierarchy of site same, should possible keep url's same.

it depends on number of pages site has, 1 possibility use 301 re-direct in .htaccess file point old url's new ones.
