Thread: 11.04 broadcom 4306 install with no net connection
i know has in forum, ever searched on turned nothing.
installed 11.04 on old dell inspiron 8200 wireless doesn't work. it's broadcom 4306, seem remember needs sta driver. default, b43legacy , ssb loaded.
installed dkms , b43 firmware cutter livecd per 1 of ubuntu how-to's. however, patch , fakeroot folders not on livecd indicated in how-to. so, went had. wireless enabled, no networks can found , says firmware missing yet.
went through additional drivers, nothing comes broadcom.
hardest part of me have no other way connect internet other wireless here in basement rent. router upstairs in brother in-laws' office set up. don't have access office - sort of 1-time thing set wireless network house.
so, can kindly point me link explains how truely bcm4306 working in 11.04 without having internet access? can access internet on desktop can download things here , take laptop on usb flash drive.
i've tried bcmwl5 stuff via ndiswrapper - doesn't work either.
in advance!
it depends on whether have rev 2 or rev 3 version of bcm4306. rev 2 uses b43legacy , rev 3 uses b43, nether uses sta driver. here 2 pages should give need.
