Thread: intel i5 + Sandy Bridge platform support
hi all,
bought laptop built on sandy bridge platform b2 , icore5 intel cpu.
windows 7 working fine on install ubuntu on too...however given bad feedback on ubuntu support recent platform not sure whether thing try or not.
can either, tell me whether platform supported last ubuntu version 11, whether (hardware) risks if try install anyway!!

lionel
bad feedback? anyway if using discrete graphics card (ie nvidia) should work fine ^^
not real hardware risks short of seeing graphic glitches because intel video drivers not good. can boot cd give test drive. suggest don't use 3d (ie. gnome classic without desktop effects, or xubuntu compositing disabled).
seems mesa 7.11 needed better support ubuntu ships 7.10. there appears ppa upgrade mesa, x, , intel driver.
