Thread: NAS slow when using fstab.

dear linux friends,

using nas settings in fstab, have 4.4mbytes/sec. however, when open computer->network ->windows-network->workspace->ch3mnas, have speed of 18mbyte/sec.

notice directory ~/.gvfs/volume_1\ op\ ch3mnas... when restart pc, directory gone. there after use nautilus first.

also, see directory called smb://ch3mnas/volume_1

totally confused... how fast network speed automatically @ boot of pc?
why hidden inside ~/.gvfs/.? ... prefer /home/nas

manual can read of if any..

i can't answer question of why classic mount in fstab slower gvfs-mount in nautilus have suggestion.

first, instead of mounting in nautilus use following command:
code:
gvfs-mount smb://server/share
substituting correct values "server" , "share".

2 things should happen:
* mount icon appear on desktop
* mount point in /home/username/.gvfs/share on server created.

test speed make sure it's same when nautilus , if works same use gigolo automount remote share: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...16&postcount=3

.gvfs mount point can't changed unfortunately you'll have create symlink someplace else if that's problem.
