Thread: sound skipping and stuttering since fresh install of ubuntu 10.04

i know problem affects many people , have found many different threads solutions seems specific each.
in case i've been having problem since fresh install (which tried twice). stuttering , skipping happens program i've tried, rythmbox, vlc, totem, youtube etc..

i've tried few things:
-first tried playing around alsamixer, setting tried gave no result problem
-second tried tweak line "load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0" made problem worst sound radomly stop or if online id bunch of distortion etc..
-third i've upgraded alsa problem still persists, think might little better still cant go 2mins without skipping , stuttering.

know many remove pulseaudio since intergrated sound device in ubuntu i'm hesitant on doing fear of loosing functionality, if solution me have sound without stuttering i'll it.

give me assistance or guidance this?

where did kernel? 1 saw in lucid-updates 2.6.32.32.38

try booting different kernel. mentioned alsa upgrade yet not @ latest version - see signature. first should try resetting pulse configuration.
using terminal="applications->accessories->terminal"

code:

rm -r ~/.pulse ~/.asound* ~/.pulse-cookie   sudo rm /etc/asound.conf

reboot
ignore 'no such file or directory' errors
