Thread: wireless networks seen but connection can't be established

i have old compaq machine running ubuntu.

i've tried 2 different wireless devices,
1. usb zonet
2. pci card sabrent

got them both installed , both scan , see range of networks. when enter network key, churns while , never connects. has happened me in 2 different offices same machine.

bit boring video shows exact behavior, see here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goayrx1e9n0

kicks, installed puppy linux , got same type of error. can see networks can't connect.

yes password correct, checked , double checked. tried on multiple different networks.

possible there can lower level hardware issue cause such failure?

thanks! i'm awfully confused one.

so, maybe not technically right place thought include related. tried puppy linux , when run network on that, logfile failed network connection...
snipped bit of beginning detected bunch of networks , replaced passwords *******
thanks,
dan
