Thread: Cannot hibernate after adding more RAM to netbook

hi,
i'm running ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) , upgraded amount of memory in acer aspire 1 a110 netbook default of 512m 1.5g. don't use netbook , today after done did try put hibernation rather shutting down , discovered option no longer there.

googled bit , realised didn't have swap partition. don't know if ever had 1 or whether using swap file, followed this guide create swap partition, can see. followed bit of guide talks making swap partition work hibernate, although can see "hibernate" in power menu, if select it, disk thrashes bit nothing happens.

i've tried running
code:
sudo /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh
from command line in case gave me error message, doesn't, , neither typing
code:
pm-hibernate
doesn't work either.

appreciated.

tia,
raj.

*bump*, ideas here?
