Thread: Do I have lack repositories, or what?

please excuse how surely ignorant , annoying am. ubuntu has become "linux everyone", including idiots me, , i'm 1 of ignorant types computers. may come out of left field , stupid, , embarrassing exist on forums.

long story short, built new computer, , used wubi make dual-boot linux , windows 7 both available. since wanted try linux(actually had tried once before on old laptop, first desktop experience).

@ first tried kubuntu. having problems uninstalled kubuntu , installed xubuntu. things have been going pretty good, there's still same old problems google searches don't seem fix, @ least not quickly.

still don't understand how on earth can wine play games want. topic time. of times try search "wine tutorial" or "wine configuration" little, , things talk playonlinux or winetricks or like. there's limited amount i've been able that.

, onto other problem, lot of programs linux i've been trying find should there in synaptic manager, aren't there in search, worse, worse in kubuntu, they're not great here, either. seems repository problem. don't know how update or whatever. had find off-site gave me long terminal command put dolphin emulator, in repositories, don't remember was, worked. it's not listed in "other software" ppa.launchpad.net/glennric/dolphin-emu/ubuntu natty . , again can't remember terminal command life of me. don't know how else have gotten show on package manager without doing that. wasn't there before. , had on "other software" listed, checked. canonical partners, independent, of them.

, i'm still having problems because of sort of thing. i've gotten dolphin work, albeit @ lower framerate in windows 7, can't many files playdeb.net work. tried getting pcsxr there, ubuntu software center says "not found. there isn't software package called "pcxsr" in current software sources". solution seem be, more , better ones. aside checking of boxes , reloading/updating normally, don't have clue how. had search dolphin-emu repository, , single repository.

don't understand why repositories seem so... limited. they're pretty limited in this. , had nothing available in kubuntu. long , drawn out way simple, new, , idiotic, , i'm sorry if i'm saying embarrassingly dumb on forums. , making read lot so. use "absolute beginner" section beginner fool am, appears section archive now.

um, if want know specifications. i'm using am3 x2 callisto cpu, hd 4870 gpu... , that's pretty need know hardware, right? should have best ati drivers, since asked me if wanted update first booted xubuntu , said yes , installed them. if want technical aspects, catalyst control center says this:

, pretty gist of things. sorry being such idiot. know linux diy. i've having bit of hard time figuring out of of diy aspects. i've been able of want on linux can in windows fair degree, torrent things, watch things, browse internet, listen music , have scrobbled on last.fm, use messenger, , that's pretty it.

bring things one, it'd nice able play doujin/indie games without problem on wine, , emulate playstation , playstation 2 games i'm used doing on windows 7. far 1 of indie games i've been able work eversion, had no problems in wine. recettear, not well. though installed steam in playonlinux. seem have rather limited choices on of these things, without lot of searching. , i'm plain worn out/stumped.

cares spend time reading incredibly uneducated , foolish post.
