Thread: Error during make install hping3

hello all,

i'm new these forums , i'm not experienced linux, want understand more of tcp/ip protocol , networking in general i'm trying install hping3. however, keep running error can't seem fix. run following commands:

code:

./configure make sudo make install

during make install run following error:

code:

ln: creating symbolic link 'usr/sbin/hping': file exists make: *** [install] error 1

however, when check directory, can't find file named hping. know problem here? i'm running xubuntu 11.04.

see hping symbolic link in fact created during make install. mean "file exists" not error , error notification error 1?

i'm sorry. after removing both hping , hping2 /usr/sbin/ make install worked.

fyi. hping3 available in universe repository.

$ apt-cache policy hping3
hping3:
installed: (none)

3.a2.ds2-6 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe i386 packages

you don't have build source. make sure universe repository enabled and:

code:

sudo apt-get install hping3
