Thread: Unity broken after resetting Compiz

so upgraded 10.10 11.04. booted fine, albeit bit funky here , there. opened compiz , reset settings default. suddenly, left , top panels vanished , won't come back, no matter how many times restart. there nothing wallpaper in front of me. have resort logging in "classic" in order access menus.

what's going on , how fix it?

unity plugin compiz. i'm sure setting default disable plugin. if have compizconfig-settings-manager (ccsm) installed open , try activating ubuntu unity plugin.

if don't have ccsm installed. following command install it:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
edit: see if alt-f2 works. you'll need type command into.
