Thread: Videocard not powerful enough? (Unity) It is in Windows...

hi all!

have installed ubuntu 11.04 on msi cx620 laptop. works well, apart graphics.

laptop has switchable graphics (between intel integrated , ati radeon hd5470). because have dedicated videocard expect i'd able run unity (and other stuff - minecraft segfaults example), on login, says videocard inadequate. strikes me odd, considering fact able play games (tf2, counter-strike, ...) on laptop no problems (that's on windows 7 though!).

that's why think ubuntu isn't handling switchable graphics properly. not sure. there way can find out of videocards being used ubuntu?

if so, there way switch between them? (i tried buttons use in windows, no avail).

in advance

have gone additional drivers , activated recommended drivers? there maybe icon on top panel giving option this. received message. inaccurate. messages driver activated not in use. in use.

after activating proprietary driver reboot , @ log-in click user name , right hand menu on bottom panel select ubuntu. ubuntu unity load desktop.

regards.
