installed ubuntu 10.04.2 on hp pavilion a1030e, seems x crashing nautilus windows consistently , after running no nautilus windows on hour other applications lock screen. i'm struggling xconfig. if boot recovery mode , select "failsafex" run in fail safe graphics mode, windows denotes "ubuntu running in low graphics mode" select radio button on next screen "run ubuntu in low graphics mode 1 session", , works great.
how save configuration? i've tried several things doesn't save low graphics mode configuration.
i'm looking spare video card alterative too. i'll keep posted!

able google answer... here's solution in case comes in handy else.
1. ctrl+alt+f1 (this takes terminal window)
2. sudo service gdm stop
3. sudo xorg -configure
4. sudo service gdm start
note:a new file xorg.conf.new generated in current working directory
5. sudo cp xorg.conf.new /etc/x11/xorg.conf
6. sudo vi /etc/x11/xorg.conf
note: edit xorg.conf file system if needed. system use "vesa" driver or system crashed after using time.
reboot system new xorg.conf can take affect. system fixed.
