A different DaVinci/Premiere question

hi all,

i starting out canon h.264 dslr footage. understand premiere pro "opens up" codec while editing there no need uncompress before edit. adding davinci resolve workflow. either want to: a) grading first, export , edit files in pp. should uncompress before grade , if best codec grading in resolve? (i have mac @ home , windows @ work. work , home projects never mix same workflow if possible.) , best way export davinci use in pp?
b) cut first, roundtrip davinci, using h.264 in davinci. assume doesn't handle codec premiere pro. if still have render davinci , if use h.264 won't add overall compression?

also if guys see asking wrong questions or going completley wrong way please set me straight.

using premiere pro cs6 , davinci resolve lite 9 on i7 windows machine , i5 imac

thanks, chip simons

hey chip,

in answer a, highly recommend not grading until after edit done. there lot of wasted time. transcoding footage uncompressed format not improve footage since data lost in lossy h.264 compression. means can import right premiere without modification. far exporting pp davinci, need export sequence fcp xml. import file in davinci resolve. keeps edit while separating individual clips.

b, davinci handles h.264 fine there no need transcoding.

does answer question?
