Are there short-cuts for these common tasks?

hello --

 

i professional ux/ui designer, switched illustrator preferred tool photoshop. while loved ability have multiple canvases in illustrator, general quality on pixel level rendering far superior in photoshop. in addition, clients not able use .ai files. far migrating has been experience , happy it. however, find myself repeating few tasks wonder if there short-cuts, work-arounds, or plain missing something. appreciated:

 

1. generally find ps gets slow when files large (~255mb right now). use many layer effects in general, might issue. when nudge folder or group of items progress indicator. have teh performace settings @ ideal , allocated 70% of 8gb have in machine. still becomes unusable, when have upwards 10-15 screens work with.
2. is possible assign gradient vector mask, in order achieve partial transparency? layer mask, no problem, vector masks? can asign gradient overlay effect mask instead of drawing hand?
3. when transformation on vector shape, default seems % instead of px, defaults center orientation point, , height & width not linked. there way either set preference, or keyboard shortcut, instead of having click everytime?
4. the font smoothing defaults "sharp" while prefer using "crisp" can set globally?
5. is using position & layer style checkbox in layer comps useful guys might in same line of work? far find easier create new folder each state, realize may cause slowness refer in #1
6. this big one: when copy layer effects , shape attributes, seems there no simple short-cut command it. end doing 2 copy & paste operations each time. there way ideally select shape , copy & paste both values @ same time?
7. another big one: duplicate layer or folder, need move different folder. fondmyself dragging way around palette, big hassle. there way copy & paste layer right position?
8. i minor nuisance: whenever duplicate layer, ps adds label "copy" new layer. feel unnecessary , in end file gets meaningless through it. there way avoid or have guys found better way in doing this?

 

i know quite lot, might helpful others. appreciate thoughts & on those.

there's option in teh prefs (or layer panel's options?) copy thing. likewise, crisp font rendering should become default when used last - ps saves prefs whe nquitting program. same transform options, though in addition rtespect document's unit setting , should e.g. produce readouts in px if document set pixels units. vector masks sharp, there's no way around there no way copy different contextual attributes @ same time, meaning cannot copy paths , layer styles in 1 go. might scripting of stuff, though. copy&paste respects last selected layer, btw, , pasted stuff appear above it.
