particles

i'm trying particles appear on screen, stop , stay.  i've seen done before.  i've tried adjusting birth rate, longevity, gravity, resistance , velocity , i've been able slow them down.  need them stop.  use particle world, if particle system 2 it, that's fine also.  suggestions, or point me in right direction apreciated.

if want particles static beginning, in either cc particle system ii or cc particle world set velocity , gravity 0 , increase longevity according duration need.

 

if want particles start velocity , freeze motion, set gravity 0 , increase resistance. however, ratio velocity/resistance in cc particle system ii , cc particle world different. e.g. if start velocity = 0.5, resistance = 4 enough freeze particles motion within 4 seconds in particle world, should 30 in particle system ii.

 

animate birth rate limit amount of existing particles.
