Rendering slower after moving footage to faster drive
hey all
really not sure what's going on here. after following adobe performance guidelines hard disks moved of footage external drive being shared project , preview files, new exernal drive better specs.
running disk test application previous drive getting write times of 60mb/s , read times of 30mb/s. wd studio 2tb external drive. on new g-tech drive i'm getting write times same double read times @ 68mb/s. per guidelines moved of source footage there , updated paths in project file. both drives connected via fw800.
testing render of preview on clip went 10 mins on old drive 40 minutes on new drive! can give me idea of going on? should not slower, should faster, right?
update: restart of premiere got time down 40 minutes more reasonable time dissapointed don't see improvement, if seems slower , benchmarks show media definetely on faster drive of two.
cheers.
mr. loofer,
you should use both external fw800 drives if have two. premiere loves sharing load onto more 1 drive. example, put media, projects, , scratch on 1 drive , put media cache, media cache db, , outputs on second.
regarding real world performance difference, should check cache settings in windows how both drives configured.
