Thread: Grub2 prevents Windows 7 from suspend

i've got same problem thread:
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopi...443236#p443236

basically, i've got ubuntu lucid on 1 drive, , windows 7 on another. both can booted bios respective systems. on lucid machine, re-ran update-grub add windows 7 entry. grub boot windows 7 fine. however, when windows booted grub, unable go sleep.

looks grub directly boots windows 7 partition. wonder if windows can detect "it's" mbr didn't boot , can prevent suspend. possible tell grub pass off mbr instead of partition?

interesting. way of saying "i don't know".
disinclined think way grub booting windows because afaik same way mbr boot code does. both load , execute windows partition boot code. how windows tell way had been booted?

conjecture guess 1 thing can tell disk booted first. may interrogate bios check boot priority. windows has history of complaining when not first boot disk, updates fail.

might try quick experiment. set windows first in boot priority in bios. when boot use special function choose ubuntu disk on fly (is f11?). choose windows in grub , see if can hibernate. if does, problem boot priority setting in bios rather boot sequence.

none of solve problem, tho.
