Thread: How do I make a new UUID for this HD?


hello,
cloned main ubuntu working hd hd. after experts on forum got me , going setting correct uuid's partitions in fstab file, have 2 working hd's, main working hd , backup hd, in case have sort of problem main hd.
want hook these 2 hd's on same ribbon. oldfred mentioned needing change uuid on 1 of drives, there not 2 uuid's same. both of these drives have 2 partition's, main sda1 , swap partition, sda2. swap partitions, reason have different uuid's, main partitions, sda1, have identical uuid numbers.

can how new uuid number hd on now? have read tune2fs can used ( file types ext4 ), , know how edit fstab file. don't know grub , thing else might need know.

you won't need else: need change uuid , adapt fstab accordingly.
