Thread: .M4a recognization/conversion issues

ok uploaded 7.5k songs old creative zen, , of them in .m4a format (not .m4a - don't know if distinction matters). i'm using amarok , mixxx , neither of them recognize songs @ all. both of them claim support ogg type files. downloaded faad2, lame (i'm brand new ubuntu, i'm sure not positive installed these - did search in synaptic later , appeared installed). think installed few other codecs well. have spent lot of time researching , trying suggested solutions either i'm doing wrong or they're not working me.

don't want convert, prefer not suffer quality loss. being said, tried converting them no avail. ran shell script supposed convert .m4a .mp3. went through them, scanned them all, , @ end said converted total of 0 files.

i'm looking explain how can go fixing this. i'm willing learn, have limited knowledge base right , no 1 answer questions.

look restricted-extras package on software center, or try this:
code:
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
regards.
