Thread: NIC Bonding/Teaming and Switches

hi guys,

have question bonded nics , switches connected to. if wrong in of assumptions, please correct me.

have server needs send lot of data server quickly. both have multiple gbe nics. understand required @ server end (i think) in pseudo-interface created such bond0 ip applied interface rather eth0 , eth1.

question relates connection between servers, i.e. switch. specific type of switch required work, ip have 2 (or more) mac addresses associated it, or how switch decide port route traffic bond0 ip?

also, work when multiple connections being made? mean is, each individual tcp connection use either physical eth0 or physical eth1 interface, or can single connection make use of aggregated bandwidth, sending 1 packet 1 physical interface , other physical interface, using bond0 ip destination?

trying work out if had storage server connected application server , exporting storage using nfs or glusterfs, aggregated link improve throughput?

maybe starting point you
