Thread: Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init

hi there. reason, can't ubuntu boot. computer isn't mine don't know happened, think update went badly wrong...

anyway, whenever try , boot ubuntu, this

code:
killed mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: no such file or directory mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: no such file or directory mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: no such file or directory target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init no init found. try passing init= bootarg (and initramfs)
i've been trying find out error on forums, , think grub not being able find something, don't know because don't understand what's going on.

can load grub menu, can't boot ubuntu there. also, can't run or install ubuntu on live usb because hangs @ ubuntu loading screen.

appreciated.

chaozuper.

try using slax boot computer:
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=slax

should able put on usb stick , run it:
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

if manage booted, please following can better idea of going on:

once desktop loads come here , following:

1. download boot info script in zipped file. there link in signature.
2. once downloaded, move boot info script either copying or dragging , dropping zipped folder onto desktop , unzip contents using right-click extract here.
3. open folder , copy script desktop (you can drag , drop if like)
4. open terminal , run following command

code:
bash ~/desktop/boot_info_script.sh
this create results.txt file on desktop. paste entire contents of file here in new post. once pasted highlight text , click # sign on toolbar place code tags around text.
