11.4 MSI Not installing via Group Policy


we have been able install 11.2 , 11.3 gpo using msi file wiith few problems.  however, 11.4 msi isn't working using exact methods worked previous versions.

error says "not marked installation."

 

how can solved?

 

we push 11.4 out asap before more users respond update prompt 11.4 , install manually , inadvertantly install tool bars , browsers set install default when user installs it.  had planned deploy 11.3 , have silently update future updates automatically no user intervention, 11.4 has thrown wrench in plan.

 

also, 11.4 start updating 11.3 11.4 silently next week?  read these unwanted manual installation prompts users mms,cfg settings set automatically install supposed stop happening 7 days after release of 11.4.

we're in process of investigating error need community members.  willing generate debug logs us?  if so, please see instructions below:

 

perform following steps on impacted system

 

1. download appropriate "debugging tools windows" msi installer available from:

** 32 bit systems: http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/debuggers/dbg_x86_6.11.1.40 4.msi

** 64 bit systems: http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/debuggers/dbg_amd64_6.11.1. 404.msi

 

click on run

click on next

click on "i agree" eula

click on next

select radio button "custom"

click on browse , change default install path c:\debuggers

click on next

click on install

click on finish

 

2. download appropriate tttsetup msi installer:

 

3. copy appropriate tttsetup msi installer c:\debuggers

 

double click on msi installer execute

click on "next"

click on "i accept" eula

click on "next"

ensure install location reads c:\debuggers\ttt\

click on "next"

click on "install"

 

4. launch task manager , ensure there no running instances of msiexec.exe. if there are, end running instances. isolate msiexec.exe process(es) associated flash player msi.

5. launch flash player 11 msi installer not click on install button yet.

6. locate msiexec.exe process(es) appear in task manager after launching flash player msi. take note of pid(s) msiexec.exe (you need later)

- if not see pid column in task manager, can add task manager view pulldown menu (view->select columns)

7. create following folder c:\idnatrace

8. open command prompt , navigate c:\debuggers\ttt (cd c:\debuggers\ttt)

- if have 2 running instances of msiexec.exe, need perform steps 8 - 10 in 2 separate command prompts in order capture msi activity (one each pid).

- if on windows 7, need launch command prompt "run administrator" command. this, click on start, type cmd in search field, right click on cmd.exe.

9. type "tttracer.exe -initialize" without quotation marks , press enter.

10. type "tttracer.exe –dumpfull –maxfile 1024 –ring –out c:\idnatrace –attach pid” without quotation marks, press enter. <replace "pid" process id msiexec.exe step 5 above>

11. click on flash player 11 msi install button. when flash player 11 msi displays error message, click on "exit app" on idna window on desktop. create .out , .run trace files in c:\idnatrace folder
