hi nick,
thankfully joomla 2.5's acl quite flexible
go to:
1 ) administrator area
2 ) site (top menu)
3 ) global configuration (sub menu)
4 ) permissions (tab)
5 ) author (slider)
6 ) edit own (field)
7 ) denied (drop down) ...or can set "inherited" depending on setup.
8 ) save
that should prevent author group editing own articles after have been published. note, assumes edit field , edit state fields denied or have inherited denied access. assumes you're wanting type of effect globally , you're not overriding global permissions settings via "article manager options" in article manager.
hope helps!
kind regards,
nick
