Monitoring problem-Please help
hey everyone, i'm trying figure out how monitor audio in audition cs6. i'm using mac , upgraded soundtrack pro. easlly monitored audio though headphones while using soundtrack. setup consists of mic going usb interface saffire 6 usb runs mac via usb.
i'm confused on i've researched far....can monitor audio in waveform? or in multitrack? or both?
my settings in audition consist of:
audio hardware:
device class: coreaudio
default input: saffire 6
default output: built in output (i have option of choosing saffire 6 here, doesn't make adifference in i've tried)
master clock: saffire (can choose built in output here)
clock source: internal
i/o buffer size: 256
sample rate: 44100
in audio channel mapping:
device saffire 6usb
file channels show l , r l mono. both saffire 6usb 1
output
device:built in output
file channels show 1 [l] , 2[r].
l has device channel of built in output 1 , r has built in output 2
are these right settings? i've noticed on multitrack mode there "monitoring input" , i've played with no new outcome.
any appreciated! , if need more info please ask...i tried put down think of.
you should use headphone monitor on saffire 6 set sort of thing--it has function mix between playback from computer , input (in case, mic).
audition doesn't provide output when you're in waveform view--this pretty normal, hence facility on saffire 6.
multitrack set differently , there feature select , mix tracks send output when recording in multitrack--however, here norm mix between pre-recorded tracks , new source(s) in audio interface.
i'm not mac user but, assuming there similarlty between pc , mac, can pain use 2 different audio devices--there way in mac (i think it's called setting composite device in core audio) it's far tidier , easier set using saffire everything.
finally (and perhaps mac user can confirm or deny i'm say) suspect might better off downloading , installing dedicated device drivers focusrite web site rather using core audio.
