Thread: 11.04 upgrade with video issues

good day,

did go through different posts have not found particular issue.
have spent 2 days trying figure out, admittedly newbie still.
ok
went ubuntu v9.x 10 11.04 in 1 shot. v9 stable no issues year.
after upgrading loaded fine had different desktop (with side bar on left , fav icons in there, called 'launcher'). when left laptop idle few minutes screen go white,froze , have reboot, after few reboots original desktop loaded (without intervention on part!?). fine since prefer gnome (2.32.1) ever loading before. checked , still running v11.04 issue cannot have windows full screen if stretch them more 4x5 inch windows content disappear , screens goes white if resize 4x5" content reappear? not happen after boot works fine while full size windows (of content; browser, video player etc, doesn't seem if open document) , open window , issue manifest itself.
example upload attachment here had resize pop-up 'search file' window tiny 3x4 size. attachment driver screen shot, nvidia driver highlighted 1 worked in ubuntu v9.x note says driver activated not in use, , have no option put 'in use' option remove it.
tried removing , re-installing got same mssg. tried loading nvidia v173 have same issue.
every time reboot gnome desktop fine still don't understand how switched launcher desktop beloved gnome desktop?

appreciated, using remote desktop if wants to. hp 9600 serie laptop amd turlon 64 (but running 32bit ubuntu)it 17 inch screen.

i had same thing happen , used different computer read post...i went computer running ubuntu because didn't find here , opened control center" clicking on icon @ upper right of window. moved mouse pointer around until said "configure third-party , proprietary drivers". clicked on , able blank white window open , trying re-size managed see content switched video driver , restarted...now mine working again.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
