Thread: Applications disappeared from GNOME menus

my problem applications menu empty , preferences , administration no longer appear under system menu.

i'm running 11.04 , use ubuntu classic because prefer gnome interface.

other day trying out various audio/multimedia players installing , uninstalling several programs software center. started play cd in audacious when system crashed. screen went dark computer kept running. ended doing hard reset.

booted , seems run fine except gnome menu messed up. applications menu empty , preferences , administration no longer appear under system menu. (i realize can these through system settings want menus back) furthermore alacarte not run can edit menu contents.

i've tried using 1 of old menu versions in /home/dan/.config/menus outdated , menu editor won't run edit them. doesn't bring preferences , administration.

i've been using commands in application launcher , none of programs show in either. oddly enough, when open properties of file , click on "add" in "open with" tab can see there.

i've tried reinstalling alacarte , gnome-panel , doesn't anything.
i've tried using other panel programs docky , awn have same menu problem.
tried resetting panels defaults doesn't fix problem.

advice?

same problem here! *think* because encrypted home folder

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
