neighbour in 70s , has discovered internet after let him loose on old laptop.

cut long story short i've bought him advent 8117 laptop web browsing , i've tried him use ubuntu i'm worried zapped malware on windows etc.

complete newbie , confused complicated desktops , passwords etc.
however, can use firefox , ebay , buy stuff paypal (just)

i'm long term windows user , new linux , there's few things causing grief.

main 1 neighbour keyring issue. isn't described ubuntu. i'm assuming password encrypts , holds other passwords email etc.

@ minute laptop keeps asking keyring despite checking boxes make release passwords automatically. it's annoying on evo email.

first question is:

possible him ubuntu manage 5 passwords has keyring? if great. i.e. log on password can he:

log onto ebay

send receive emails via evolution

paypal account (he's happier manually enter one)


it's old laptop running windows needed paypal password , he's confused why has keep entering lots of passwaords on new laptop?

can advise best way me organise passwords (reasonably securely)?

want basic thing him able read emails without keyring requests.

#1 password on internet can stored in firefox

#2 keyring talking about. sounds may missing authorization keys ubuntu uses verify with. tell programs ask key.

#3 evolution...not part of xubuntu, can't on one

#4 keep subscription thread open week. if needs ask old man (70 years) questions, him signed on forum , post here...
