Thread: ubuntu classic + compiz + cairo-dock = NIGHTMARE

first of all, don't blame anybody. blame myself. upgrading on production laptop.

i've been using ubuntu since edgy, , linux since suse 4.x (1997).

running smooth 10.04, until decided upgrade 11.04.
mistake.

of course, unity question of taste. don't it. surprised find out supposedly alternative classic gnome not work me. compiz crashes frequently, loose window decorations when click on item in cairo-dock, , feels unstable. dumped emerald in hope help, no joy.

it's ok ubuntu try new layout. should not leave users in void try stick old layout.

repeat: blame myself first. won't install ubuntu anymore. feel have been left out. shame, ubuntu's ideals resonated me. lost weekend trying fix it.

i had similar experiences newest version--loved 10.04 ended trying xubuntu 11.04 , think ok. left 1 system 10.04 , changed other.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
