Cannot install Adobe Reader X

attempting install on win xp sp3 w/norton 360 (which date, , attempted this , without norton active).  windows date.  when attempt load adobe allows me save file desktop , when run installer ie error saying error trying load page.  url 127.0.0.1:2357/app/_js_adobe.js failed load wish continue running scripts on page?  if click yes error goes away installation stalls @ 0% , never completes.  have scripting enabled in ie.  have rebooted several times.  i've never seen before.

what name of file downloaded ?

did try 1 : ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.4/en_us/adberdr1014_en_us.exe ?

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
