Thread: 11.04, No option to load along side of Windows 7

the options loading ubuntu 11.04 on hp 2000-219dx laptop is: 1. remove windows 7 , download ubuntu, or 2. manually partition hd. i'm no computer wiz , new gnu/linux don't know problem might be. need windows os work prefer run ubuntu distro personal computing. have same problem ubuntu 10.10, no ubuntu laptop until can problem solved. advise appreciated!

if there no option presented, means preloaded win7 pc came maximum of 4 primary partitions allocated -- , can't have more that.

thus, installer not going give option requires creating partition.

if want see yourself, boot ubuntu cd, select try mode, open terminal, , enter "sudo fdisk -lu" (that's lowercase l, not one). list out partitions.

also, go win7 , use disk management utility see partition layout.

if have 4 allocated, faced having delete 1 in order install ubuntu own partition.
