i in process of trying move parents desktop computer windows vista ubuntu 11.04. both have used system , find far superior windows. desktop attempting load ubuntu running next ancient, @ least 5 years old. either hp a350n or , hp a500n aren't talking new technology. have been running 1 form or of windows on computer since first purchased , has worked flaws such ie not working unless log in admin or forfox not being able update without admins permission.

doing download of system ubuntu using wubi because every time attempt use cd freezes computer. capable of creating clean crisp download in reasonable amount of time , when computer reboot comes clean crisp picture explaining great features ubuntu has offer. once final install complete brings me log in page , hear notice first problem. bar on bottom of screen displays halfway , therefore looks strange screen still crystal clear. when input log in traditional log in , screen pops saying computer needs run in classic mode. click okay , completes log in , screen absolute blur. pixels don't line , although can see halfway should displayed isn't enough able navigate make changes screen.

thought problem monitor tried spare had on @ house , got same effect. last week mother purchased older dell flat panel monitor , thought maybe 1 job since had read somewhere on here there had been problem other monitor attempting use install.

when run ubuntu in safe mode screen clear can't set monitor more 1 time boot in screen. if me out frustrating hell out of me. bty give information have @ time, computer not @ residence , weekend hobby.

hi go additional drivers , see if there driver video card, if install it, have connected internet check, if not put command in terminal
