Thread: Ethernet card stopped working?

i gave friend older pc use internet.

internet connection worked without fail 2 months. grandsons came visit. used ethernet cable on laptops, weekend, no problem. not have router. reconnected cable pc, running ubuntu 10.10, , archived websites come up. refreshing report working offline. pc not connecting internet.

i've turned on , off.
spoke cable company's tech support. reset cable modem. confirmed modem getting signal, not getting response pc. end of responsibility.

ran ubuntu's system test. first reported 'network passed' , 'internet failed'. later, after messed things, reported 'network failed' , 'internet failed'.

ethernet card 3com 3c905c-tx/tx-m [tornado] (rev 78 ). seems yellow light flashing , orange light flashing.
