Thread: PMServ - PS3 Media Server Linux Distribution on NAS

i've been looking way pmserv work on nas, little success.

hardware:
became proud owner of blackarmor® nas 220 2tb http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/pro...armor_nas_220/, hoping allow me have access media (music , video mainly) without having computer running 24/7.

on-the-fly transcoding not issue, i'll using video , audio formats ps3 can handle right out of box. i'd use media server functionality came nas, several files either listed corrupted or not @ all, despite files works fine when copying them usb stick, plug in ps3. *.divx files created official converter not listed.

tried take out 1 of hdd nas, plug computer, boot computer live cd , install it. once done, put hdd nas. no dice... when tried ping nas computer newly installed hdd inside, go "destination host unreachable" error. computer running win 7 ultimate 64bit.

tried put nas hdd computer , boot it, got confirmed ps3 media server running, couldn't find on ps3, when scanned after it.

there isn't response official thread, decided try luck here. understand it, it's sort of configuration issue, have no idea might be.

i'd grateful assistance can provide , if need more info, i'll answer best can.

hey buddy. i'm having crazy issues streaming ps3 too, think can @ least provide insight here.

ps3 media server application runs on top of operating system. nas drive have has enough software in talk on network, it's near smart enough know how run ps3 media server, nor try automatically. it's expecting dog's food bowl fill because gave key closet keep food. still need computer point media , serve ps3. however, if drive has usb port on it, ps3 might able @ media when plugged drive.
