Thread: Software Center Problems


i'm having bit of problem both software center.

yesterday, going mad trying install simple software (skype) software center. problem install not start, "waiting other software managers quit". opened system monitor , ended processes looked software manager. still no luck. friend recommended screw , update ubuntu 11.04 (i on 10.04). so, went downloader on ubuntu website, downloaded darn thing, , 2 hours later, popped on cd. put cd computer, , waited interesting happen. synaptic package manager opens, , it says cannot install. spent better part of night searching these forums date solutions, nothing worked. turned off computer, , called night

today, tried downloading skype again, <snip>. lo , behold, worked! until 54% is. @ 54%, software center said "applying changes". after hour wait, took advice of friend, , rebooted. skype gone downloading queue, , instead under installed software. happy. skype works well. however, tried install openjdk java 6 runtime, , it's saying it's "waiting other software managers quit". on brink of taking hammer , solving problems operating system old fashioned way.

know that's lot process (computer joke, haha) wondering if help. i'm new, if i've done taboo, please let me know.

update: i've managed once again go crazy on system monitor , download started on openjdk java 6 runtime. however, stuck on "applying changes" again. why heppening?

system > administration > synaptic > settings > repositories

reload , type "skype" , should there.
