Thread: Upgraded to 11.04 and now Can't Boot

hi all,

hoping can me. i'm relative newbie. i've used ubuntu couple of years, know little command line, , pretty don't know how fix things. sorry!

did "update manager" update 11.04 , system relatively new , worked until right after upgrade won't boot after restart. tried going recovery mode , "repairing broken packages" tells me 0 files downloaded or changed. tried using usb boot , reload os (which used on computer , worked perfectly) won't boot usb. tried old version 9 cd won't boot cd (yes checked boot order in bios , hd last in line). so- attempt boot- , starts load. purple splash screen. goes black, , drops me list of errors , tells me things it's "starting/stopping" , says "0k" each except 1 in red says "stopping automatic crash report" says "fail". thing lets me there control-alt-delete. can recovery mode, , did manage use "previous linux version" boot- picked first 1 on list. it's 1 time deal, goes not booting. tried sudo apt-get clean, sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade suggestion, didn't either. really want avoid wiping drive if can it. can't figure out how make thing boot, or why refuses boot cd , usb.

have ideas can help? can somehow booting 10.10? might worth @ point!?

can me. need clear instructions please. i'm clueless terminal stuff yet. thanks!

kris
