Captivate 6/ Moodle getting started

i experienced web developer (dreamweaver) getting feet wet in elearning first time. i'm unsure how go using moodle , captivate having spent many hours browsing forums , looking @ tutorials...sigh. learning curve appears steep.

i'll developing workplace spanish language courses sold individuals , local/ state government organizations, of whom may have own lms i'm betting scorm compliance necessity. have self-study audio courses developed , have used these student materials support classroom-based instruction. these give me content i'll base courses on(audio materials various scenarios, transcripts, exercises/ answers , extended vocabulary.

from i've seen there's great deal of overlap between moodle , captivate i'd appreciate advice on how best develop/ integrate these. should start , develop couple of short sessions using captivate try uploading moodle see how works or should start in moodle , use captivate necessary?

as i'll developer , have web site available should install moodle on server or better install local copy development purposes first upload web site when have finished product? i'll have 3 or 4 different products - spanish, different workplaces.

thanks direction can provide.
