Thread: Inspiron E1705 Wireless Problem

hello all, i've been having problem setting wireless connection on old inspiron e1705. being new ubuntu, spent quite while looking solutions, none of them have worked. if can help, great :)

here's information might useful:

os: ubuntu 11.04
network controller: broadcom corporation bcm4311 802.11b/g wlan (rev 01)
in administration>additional drivers, broadcom sta wireless driver installed.
when trying connect network clicking on network icon in top panel, ethernet option available though wireless configured.
contents of etc/network/interfaces file:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
the bios reports wireless , bluetooth enabled, along ethernet.
wifi led on laptop off; pressing fn+f2(the wireless key) doesn't anything.

go additional drivers , remove driver. open terminal , do:
code:
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
let know how goes.
