Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 wired internet slow (disabled ipv6, set MTU).

gigabyte z68x ga-ud4-b3 (bios latest)
^ using onboard lan,
corsair vengeance cmz8gx3m2a1600c8 8gb (2x4gb) ddr3
intel core i5 2500k
gainward 570gtx stock
ubuntu 11.04 64bit installed
running off samsung spinpoint 160gb sata ii hdd (plugged sata 2 port)

router: billion bipac 7401vgpr3

had initial troubles installing ubuntu, when i'd set partition 150gb, put down 149,999mb. strange.
anyway, installation despite initial troubles fine. did off of ubuntu cd. there no disk errors etc.

internet extremely slow when browsing , downloading.
read ipv6 maybe slowing it, did described here.
, added following lines /etc/sysctl.conf

i read numerous posts, 1 stood out (i can't find link) guy said ubuntu internet 25% slower windows.
read it, , looked router config, see mtu set 1492, set wired connection mtu 1492 via "edit connections" in ubuntu.

i've played around , set mtu below 1492, etc. it's no help. maximum speed isp's test files os 150kb/s can 1.5mb/s - 2mb/s.

i'm @ loss, , have no clue do.

i'm guessing there's no solution. it's z68 chipset.

i've tried upgrading kernel - no success, thing says unsuccessful.
