Ubuntu / LAMPP set up. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i've switched windows ubuntu , configure lampp localhost job xampp has done in past.

i've been using xampp 1.7.3 working fine sites.

my question how install lampp stack has same versions of php etc. xampp 1.7.3?

i've got 2 sets of instructions 1 joomla docs , 1 ubuntu. concern joomla info outdated , install old php version. instructions follows:

joomla doc:
""sudo apt-get install apache2 php5-mysql libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server phpmyadmin""

ubuntu doc:
""sudo apt-get install tasksel""
then
""sudo tasksel install lamp-server""

what's best way go, can install stack versions work best joomla 2.5 , 3.0?

firstly, xampp 1.7.3 2 versions of xampp "out of date" still valid aware has been updated include apache, mysql , php update releases. 1.7.7 , 1.8 recent versions.

you best stick ubuntu instructions installs pre-configured stack not dissimilar xampp current version of ubuntu using.

the joomla way installing individual components of web server naming them. equally valid requires more time , more accuracy configure. (i same instructions available on ubuntu updated believe more recent releases).

there third option , install components synaptic package manager configure items , ensure correct extensions/modules etc available.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
