Complex data merge in InDesign possible?

hi,

 

i grateful if indesign guru me bit of advice on data merge can put case finance director spending money on indesign!

 

we producing catalogue lots of prices , product information taken database , wanted know if indesign cs6 help. don't have programme yet can't tell if worth getting company buy it!

 

what want do...

  1. we have access database prices , product information on over 1000 products
  2. we want use update price , product descriptions in our catalogue faster reprint accurately
  3. we want via summary sheet easier proof read against, , issue addendum customers when have price changes between print runs of main catalogue

 

what think possible looking @ indesign cs6 product description....

  1. create "price , product information summary" document lists product information , prices want merge
  2. data merge access database above document
  3. use link & place feature link each bit of information correct place in print catalogue (which produced in indesign well)

so run merge on summary document and, when data has changed, can open main print catalogue , prices updated.

 

my estimate save on us$2000 per year in wasted time, can imagine budget approver pretty happy invest!

http://forums.adobe.com/people/cdflash (colin flashman) our resident data merge expert , has lot of information on blog. think suggesting doable, may find worthwhile invest in 1 of cmmercial catalog plugins. worth time set machine trial of id cs6 , trials of catalog plugins see can do.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
